'''CanadianWiki has had many new accounts being created over the past two weeks. New accounts are fantastic as long as they are used with good intention. However, this is not the case with these accounts. We have been trying to combat spam on CanadianWiki by adding new extensions, new CAPTCHA, and backend configuration. Those fake accounts have created spam articles on CanadianWiki, all of which were deleted and those accounts banned from 3 months to perminent. We at CanadianWiki have enabled Verify Email which, requires a registered account to verify their email before they can edit. Sadly this does affect non-registered accounts as they to will have to create an account, and validate an email account. We're sorry we had to take this step but, one or a few bad apples does ruin it for everyone else. We will monitor the logs and see if this does help and if it does, we will likely keep this setting for a period of time, but likely not forever.

  • Hurricane Season: The 2018 Atlantic Hurricane Season begins on June 1st, and runs until November 30th.
  • Mobile View: CanadianWiki has had to remove MobileView from CanadianWiki. Despite efforts to make the extension work for mobile users, we are unable to complete the actions successfully. Mobile users by default will see CanadianWiki in desktop mode, and will be unable to switch to mobile view. We're sorry for this inconvenience but, we are not the makers of the extensions.
  • Join Our Team: CanadianWiki is seeking new persons to join the administrator team. If you think you have what it takes, and can demonstrate that you do qualify to be an administrator, visit Join Our Team to apply.
  • What's New: CanadianWiki has added a new feature called Page Preview. This allows you to move your mouse over an internal wiki link, and preview the page in a small popup before deciding to visit that page or not. CanadianWiki has enabled his by default for all users. We are aware that this may not be enabled for non registered users and, may not display images for registered users. We will look for the causes for this in due time.

Protecting CanadianWiki against spam

CanadianWiki has had many new accounts being created over the past two weeks.

Atlantic Hurricane Season Begins Soon

The 2018 Atlantic Hurricane Season is an upcoming event in the annual formation of tropical cyclones in the Northern Hemisphere. The season will officially begin on June 1, 2018, and end on November 30, 2018. These dates historically describe the period each year when most tropical cyclones form in the Atlantic basin and are adopted by convention. However, the formation of tropical cyclones is possible at any time of the year.
